Breaking News: York County Officials Investigate Fatal Workplace Accident in Rock Hill
March 3 , 2025Rock Hill, South Carolina — March 2, 2025 — According to WBTV, authorities in York County are investigating the work-related death of a 35-year-old man who was transported from a manufacturing facility in York to a local hospital, where he later passed away.
The York County Coroner’s Office confirmed that they were called to a hospital in Rock Hill on Friday, February 28, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of Stewart Campbell. According to officials, Campbell was initially transported from Meritor, Inc., a manufacturing plant in York, following a workplace accident.
Company representatives stated that the incident took place on the evening of Thursday, February 27. Further details regarding the accident have not yet been released.
An autopsy and toxicology report will be conducted later this week to determine the exact cause of death, according to the coroner’s office. The results are currently pending.
Meritor, Inc. released a statement regarding the tragedy, expressing condolences to Campbell’s family and colleagues:
“An accident occurred at our York manufacturing facility the evening of February 27, resulting in the death of one of our employees. Our deepest condolences and sympathies are with the family during this difficult time.”
