Authorities identified the victim as 53-year-old Janice Lopez, who was working as an Uber driver when the incident occurred.
The crash occurred on Gaston Day School Road, just north of Duke Street. According to investigators, a 19-year-old driver traveling southbound at a high rate of speed lost control, crossed the center line, and collided head-on with Lopez’s vehicle.
