November 30, 2025Gastonia, North Carolina — November 29, 2025 — According to My Fox 8, a 19-year-old is facing multiple felony charges after a violent multi-car collision claimed the life of an Uber driver and left several others injured.
Gastonia police confirmed that officers arrested Lincoln Chase Wilson, who was taken into custody without any issues.
According to investigators, Wilson was driving a black Cadillac at a high rate of speed along Gaston Day Road. Officers believe he lost control of the vehicle, crossed into oncoming traffic, and struck an Uber head-on.
The rideshare driver, identified as 53-year-old Janice Lopez of South Carolina, died at the scene. A passenger riding in the back of the Uber suffered critical injuries but has since been released from the hospital, police said.
The impact caused a secondary chain-reaction crash involving two additional vehicles traveling behind the Uber. Both drivers were transported to the hospital with significant injuries.
Wilson is now charged with second-degree murder, felony death by motor vehicle, felony serious injury by vehicle, DWI, and several traffic-related offenses.
Detectives are still working to piece together the whole sequence of events. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Gastonia Police Department at 704-866-6702 or Crime Stoppers at 704-861-8000.
