Breaking News: Serious Injury Reported in Multi-Vehicle Collision That Temporarily Shut Down I-77 in Iredell County
March 22 , 2025Statesville, North Carolina — March 21, 2025 — According to WBTV, a significant accident involving multiple vehicles forced the temporary closure of Interstate 77 in both directions in Iredell County on Friday afternoon, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
Authorities reported the crash occurred near mile marker 46. Two large trucks and multiple passenger cars were involved in the collision, prompting emergency responders to close all northbound lanes for several hours while cleanup efforts continued.
Emergency teams briefly shut down southbound lanes to facilitate a medical helicopter landing. Troopers confirmed that one individual suffered serious injuries; however, further details regarding the crash or the injured person’s condition have not yet been provided.
