Breaking News: Ramseur Woman Killed in Fatal I-95 Crash Involving Box Truck in Florida

Ormond Beach, Florida — July 1, 2025 — According to the Observer, a tragic collision on Interstate 95 claimed the life of a young woman from Ramseur, North Carolina. The fatal crash occurred near mile marker 272, just south of the U.S. Highway 1 exit in Ormond Beach, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

Authorities say the victim, a 23-year-old passenger in an SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene. She had been riding in a vehicle driven by a 24-year-old man from Asheboro, North Carolina, heading north in the center lane of I-95.

The incident began when a box truck, operated by a 34-year-old man from Palm Coast, was merging back onto the interstate from the right shoulder. Witnesses reported that the SUV veered toward the shoulder and struck the rear of the truck.

Following the initial collision, a second SUV—driven by an 86-year-old Palm Coast woman traveling in the outer northbound lane—attempted to avoid the crash but struck roadway debris. Fortunately, both she and the box truck driver were unharmed.

The driver of the North Carolina SUV sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been updated.

Investigators from the Florida Highway Patrol remained on the scene for several hours, collecting evidence. The cause of the crash is still under active investigation, and no charges have been announced at this time.

The identity of the woman from Ramseur has not yet been publicly released, pending notification of her family.
