Raleigh, North Carolina — August 10, 2025 — According to ABC 11 News, a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a car has left one man dead and another driver facing criminal charges.

Police identified the motorcyclist as 55-year-old Lewyn Stewart Jr., who was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Nissan, 41-year-old Cynthia Lucas, and a passenger suffered minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital.

Investigators say Stewart was traveling north on Yonkers Road as Lucas approached from the opposite direction. She attempted to turn left onto the I-440 East ramp and, according to her statement to police, did not see the motorcycle.

A witness waiting at the stop sign for the I-440 East ramp to southbound Yonkers Road reported seeing the Altima turn directly into the motorcycle’s path.

Lucas has been charged with failure to yield the right of way, unsafe movement, and death by vehicle. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
