Pedestrian Killed In Early Morning Collision On Gilead Road In Huntersville

October 4 , 2025

Huntersville, North Carolina — October 3, 2025 — According to WCNC and the Huntersville Police Department, a pedestrian was struck and killed along Gilead Road near Interstate 77, prompting a lengthy closure and police investigation.

Pedestrian Killed In Early Morning Collision

Officers responded to the scene after reports of a collision involving a pedestrian on the eastbound side of Gilead Road. Authorities confirmed that the victim died from their injuries at the scene. The person’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of family members.

The crash occurred in a busy commercial corridor between Reese Boulevard and I-77, an area surrounded by several businesses—including Harris Teeter and Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center. Police shut down the eastbound lanes of Gilead Road for several hours while investigators examined the scene. The roadway has since been reopened.

Officials said the driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. At this time, the cause of the crash has not been determined.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident—or who has dash camera footage from the area around 6 a.m.—to contact Sgt. Bryan Gantt with the department’s Traffic Safety Section at 704-464-5371.
