Breaking News: One Killed, Driver Charged in Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision in Guilford County

February 16 , 2024

Guilford County, North Carolina – February 8, 2024 – According to BNN.com, a multi-vehicle collision in Guilford County led to one fatality and several injuries.

Alfonso Devon Allen, a 39-year-old Durham resident, now faces charges of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed. The accident occurred south of Jamestown, on US 29 South at the intersection of Riverdale Road. Allen was behind the wheel of a 2017 International box truck when he collided with the back of a 2020 Subaru Outback.

The Subaru, operated by Nicholas McCutcheon, 63, of Greensboro, was stationary at the intersection alongside a 2002 Ford Econoline work van. McCutcheon sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Moses H. Cone Hospital. The work van was driven by Brian Keith Huston, 53, of Winston-Salem, who, along with Allen, sustained minor injuries and was treated at High Point Regional Hospital.

The accident’s most devastating consequence was the loss of life of Quinton Darnell Dean, a 42-year-old back seat passenger in the Subaru from Jacksonville, N.C. Dean’s life was tragically cut short at the scene of the accident.

State Highway Patrol (SHP) investigators have determined that driver impairment was not a factor in the crash. However, the incident has far-reaching legal and medical repercussions, and the tragic loss of life.

Our thoughts are with the injured, and Quinton’s family, friends, and loved ones.
