Couple From Snow Hill Dies in Early Morning Head-On Crash in Pitt County
September 5 , 2025Pitt County, North Carolina — September 4, 2025 — According to WCTI News 12 and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a husband and wife lost their lives in a devastating head-on collision along U.S. Highway 13 near Frog Level Road.
The crash occurred when 34-year-old Dustin Myatt of Snow Hill was driving a Nissan passenger car headed south. Investigators say the vehicle drifted into the center turn lane and struck a box truck coming from the opposite direction.
Dustin Myatt and his wife, 35-year-old Sterling Mayor Myatt, who was riding in the passenger seat, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the box truck survived and was transported to ECU Health in Greenville with non-life-threatening injuries.
Troopers indicated that excessive speed, improper lane use, and failure to wear seat belts contributed to the deadly crash.
