Fayetteville, North Carolina — May 29, 2024 — According to WRAL News, a Dodge Charger and Ram 5500 truck crashed, causing the Charger to catch fire and kill one woman.

According to the Fayetteville Police Department, the accident happened around 1:30 p.m. at the Robeson Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard intersection.

Police said a preliminary investigation determined a black Dodge Charger, driven by 24-year-old Natawn McIntyre, crossed the center line and collided with a Ram 5500 truck.

As a result of the crash, the Charger caught on fire, trapping McIntyre’s passenger, 25-year-old Jermeia Washington, inside the car. Washington died from her injuries sustained in the crash and fire.

EMS transported McIntyre to Chapel Hill with serious burn injuries, while the driver and passenger of the Ram 5500 went to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities believe careless and reckless driving by McIntire was a factor in the crash.
