Breaking News: Scaffolding Collapse Seriously Injures Three Workers in Mint Hill, North Carolina
May 25 , 2024Mint Hill, North Carolina — May 22, 2024 — According to WCNC Charlotte, three workers suffered serious injuries when scaffolding collapsed at a construction site on Morris Park Drive.
One person was transported to Novant Presbyterian Hospital for treatment for life-threatening injuries, according to Medic. Two other people were taken to the same hospital with injuries described to be serious.
It is unclear what caused the collapse, WCNC Charlotte has reached out to the Mint Hill Police Department and North Carolina’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration for details on a possible investigation.
Witnesses described the scene as reminiscent to a January 2023 incident where three construction workers died after falling 70 feet from a scaffolding collapse on East Morehead Street. Two companies were cited for safety violations following the incident, including not using strong enough scaffolding and using scaffolding that was damaged.
