Breaking News: North Carolina Woman Faces DWI, Other Charges After Two Sisters Killed in Head-On Crash Late Last Year

March 22 , 2024

Louisburg, North Carolina – March 19, 2024 – According to Fox8 News, A woman is facing DWI and other charges after two sisters were killed in a head-on Franklin County crash late last year, officials said.

Jennifer Baker Pearce, 43, was arrested concerning the deadly crash in late November 2023, according to a Monday news release from Franklin County Sheriff Kevin White.

Officials said the crash was reported near the intersection of U.S. 401 and Airport Road south of Louisburg on Nov. 29, 2023.

Emily Ball Hodges, 72, died in the crash, and her sister Pamela Ball Hayes, 73, died several days later from injuries she suffered in the wreck, Sheriff White said.

A man was also seriously injured in the crash.

“Sadness beyond words,” White said in the release. He added that Pearce was “on the run” since the afternoon of the crash.

“Driving drunk when it results in the death of another human is murder and must be treated as such. Plain and simple,” White also said in the news release.

Pearce was charged with DWI, two counts of felony death by motor vehicle, and two counts of felony inflicting serious injury by motor vehicle. She is being held on a $190,000 bond.

White said the Raleigh Police Department and the Wake County Sheriff’s Office helped apprehend Pearce.

“Jennifer Baker Pearce will be tried to the fullest extent that the law allows,” White wrote. “It will not bring back the lives of those she killed, but it will hopefully protect others from facing the same tragic fate.”
