Breaking News: Highway 74 Shutdown in Laurinburg Due to Fatal Crash
April 21 , 2024Laurinburg, North Carolina — April 19, 2024 — According to ABC 15 News, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) said one person died in a collision involving an 18-wheeler, dump truck, and van, all of which erupted in flames, causing a significant fire on Highway 74 East near exit 186 in Laurinburg.
The road was closed following the incident, and traffic was detoured, according to the City of Laurinburg Fire Department. NCSHP said one person, who has yet to be identified, died in the van.
Officials added that the road would remain closed for quite some time because the bridge was damaged during the collision and fire.
