Breaking News: Five Injured, One Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash in Spartanburg County, South Carolina
May 13 , 2024Cowpens, South Carolina — May 11, 2024 — According to WCCB Charlotte, one person is dead, and five others were transported to the hospital following a three-vehicle collision on Interstate 85 north near mile marker 81.
Officials said a 2019 Ford F-650, a 2016 Dodge Ram pickup truck, and a 2015 Mazda 6 were traveling north on I-85. The Dodge and Mazda vehicles were slowing down due to traffic when the Ford hit the Mazda. Following the initial collision, the Mazda collided with the Dodge pickup truck.
There were five occupants in the Mazda. One died at the scene, and the four others were transported to the hospital. The Ford driver was injured and transported to the hospital, as well. The Dodge driver and passenger were not injured in the crash.
This collision is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
