Breaking News: Driver Seriously Injured, Passenger Killed in Asheboro Crash

Asheboro, North Carolina – April 2, 2024 – According to Fox 8, one person is dead, and another has serious injuries after a crash in Asheboro, according to a North Carolina State Highway Patrol news release.

Troopers responded when told about a crash on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive near Mountain Top Drive in Randolph County.

Driver Seriously Injured, Passenger Killed in Crash

A 24-year-old Asheboro driver was going east on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in a 2008 Honda minivan. The minivan went off the road to the right, hit a mailbox, a utility pole, and a tree, then stopped and caught fire.

The driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, and the front right passenger, Bertha Hernandez Gudino, 29, of Asheboro, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges have been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
