Ambulance Crash in McDowell County Sends Three to Hospital With Injuries
March 19, 2026McDowell County, North Carolina — March 18, 2026 — According to WLOS, three people were hospitalized after an ambulance transporting a patient was involved in a crash along U.S. 70.
The incident occurred near the intersection of U.S. 70 West and Johnson Hollow Road. Officials confirmed the vehicle involved was a Haywood County Rescue Squad ambulance.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the driver veered off the right side of the road, then overcorrected before striking a culvert. Investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of the crash.
Three to Hospital With Injuries
At the time of the incident, the ambulance was carrying one patient along with two crew members, the driver and a medic. No other vehicles were involved.
All three individuals were transported to Mission Hospital in Asheville. Authorities reported that their injuries were not considered life-threatening, and all were in stable condition.
