Breaking News: Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Statesville Collision with Truck That Failed to Yield

May 6 , 2025

Statesville, North Carolina — May 5, 2025 — According to The Legal Advocate, a serious motorcycle collision has left 34-year-old Joseph Collins hospitalized in critical condition after his bike was struck by a pickup truck in Statesville.

The crash occurred at Garner Bagnal Boulevard and Buffalo Shoals Road. Authorities report that the driver of a Dodge truck failed to yield the right of way while turning, causing Collins’ motorcycle to slam into the truck’s passenger side.

Emergency crews transported Collins to Iredell Memorial Hospital before he was airlifted to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital for advanced trauma care. He remains in critical condition as of the latest updates.

Motorcyclist Critically Injured

Motorcyclists Face Increased Risks from Careless Drivers

This collision is another stark reminder of how vulnerable motorcyclists are, even when following the rules of the road. Nationwide, tens of thousands of motorcycle riders suffer injuries each year, many due to other drivers’ failure to yield.

Drivers who overlook motorcycles at intersections or misjudge their speed can cause devastating consequences. Failure to yield is a leading factor in vehicle vs. motorcycle collisions, contributing to roughly one-third of these crashes.

Legal experts emphasize that an in-depth investigation is essential in these situations to determine liability and secure justice for the injured rider.

Legal Options for Injured Riders

As Joseph Collins fights for his recovery, he may be entitled to pursue a personal injury claim against the at-fault driver. These claims can compensate for medical bills, lost income, long-term care needs, and pain and suffering.
