Breaking News: Seven Injured After CATS Bus Collision in North Charlotte
April 23 , 2025Charlotte, North Carolina — April 22, 2025 — According to WCNC, a crash involving a Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) bus left seven people injured. The incident occurred at Beatties Ford Road and Slater Road intersection, just past the McCrorey YMCA. Emergency crews, including a mass casualty response unit, were dispatched.
Authorities reported that one individual sustained serious injuries and was transported to Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center. Six others were treated for minor injuries.
According to CATS, the crash happened when bus No. 1054 was struck by another vehicle, causing the bus to veer off the road and collide with a tree and utility poles. The bus driver and five passengers were among the injured.
Footage from the scene showed extensive front-end damage to the bus, including a shattered windshield and debris strewn across the sidewalk. A black SUV involved in the incident was also towed with visible damage.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
