Wilmington Man Charged With Felony Death by Vehicle Following Fatal August Crash
August 26, 2026New Hanover County, North Carolina — August 25, 2026 — According to WWAY 3, a 59-year-old Wilmington man is facing a felony death by vehicle charge after a person injured in an August 20 collision later died, according to court records.
Christopher Ryan Williams initially faced charges of felony serious injury by vehicle, driving while impaired, and failure to yield while making a left turn in connection with the crash.

Court records show the felony serious injury charge was filed on August 21, one day after the collision. After the injured person died, authorities filed a separate case against Williams on August 23 charging him with felony death by vehicle. Court documents list the alleged offense date for the new charge as August 20.
Williams was arrested on August 24 and made his first court appearance that day. A judge set a $100,000 bond in the felony death by vehicle case, and records indicate that bond was posted later that evening.
The earlier case stemming from the collision carried a $50,000 secured bond.
Court records identify the North Carolina Highway Patrol as the agency investigating the crash.
Williams is scheduled to appear again in New Hanover County District Court on September 10, 2026.
