Tree Service Worker Dies After Contacting Energized Power Line in Lexington
July 30, 2026Lexington, North Carolina — July 29, 2026 — According to My Fox 8, a tree service worker was killed after coming into contact with an energized power line while operating an aerial lift at a residential property.

Emergency crews were dispatched to a home in the 300 block of Spring Drive after reports of an electrical incident involving a worker employed by a private tree service. Officials confirmed the work was not being performed on behalf of the City of Lexington.
Upon arrival, firefighters, police officers, and Davidson County EMS found that the worker had made contact with a live power line while using the aerial lift. Lexington Electric crews responded to de-energize the electrical line, allowing first responders to safely reach the scene.
The worker died as a result of the incident.
Spring Drive remained closed for roughly two hours while emergency personnel secured the area, disabled the electrical hazard, and removed equipment from the scene. The roadway reopened shortly after noon once officials determined it was safe for travel.
Authorities have not released the identity of the worker. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
