Breaking News: Tragic Workplace Accident Claims Life of Walmart Distribution Center Employee in Vance County
February 20 , 2025Henderson, North Carolina — February 19, 2025 — According to ABC 11, a tragic workplace incident at a Walmart Distribution Center in Vance County resulted in the death of an employee.
Authorities from the Vance County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at the distribution facility on Vanco Mill Road around noon. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that Josue David Virella Rivera, a Henderson resident, had been fatally injured while operating a mechanical tow motor used for transporting goods within the facility.
Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have yet to identify any witnesses to the accident, and an investigation is ongoing in collaboration with external agencies.
In response to the incident, Walmart issued a statement expressing condolences:
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our associate. Our hearts go out to his family during this difficult time. We are fully cooperating with authorities as they continue their investigation.”
Authorities have not released additional details as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
