Breaking News: Motorcyclist Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash on Union Church Road in Vass

Vass, North Carolina — June 27, 2025 — According to the Sandhills Sentinel, a motorcyclist lost his life following a serious crash involving three vehicles. The incident occurred in the 100 block of Union Church Road, between U.S. Highway 1 Business and Maple Lawn Lane.

According to emergency responders, a westbound Mazda SUV was attempting to turn left into a residential driveway when it failed to yield to two motorcycles approaching from the opposite direction. One rider managed to swerve and avoid the vehicle, but the second motorcyclist collided with the passenger side of the SUV.

The collision forcefully ejected the motorcyclist from his Harley-Davidson, throwing him into the oncoming lane of traffic. Tragically, he was then struck by an eastbound Honda CR-V.

First responders at the scene requested air medical transport due to the severity of the rider’s injuries, but poor weather conditions made helicopter evacuation impossible. The injured motorcyclist was instead transported by ground ambulance to Moore Regional Hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

Significant damage was reported to both the motorcycle and the Mazda involved in the initial impact. No injuries were reported among the other drivers involved in the collision.

Union Church Road was shut down in both directions for several hours as law enforcement and emergency crews cleared the scene and began an investigation.

Agencies responding to the crash included the Cypress Pointe Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Vass Police Department, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, which is leading the investigation into the cause of the collision.
