Investigation Underway After Worker Dies in Charlotte Loading Dock Incident

Charlotte, North Carolina, July 7, 2026. According to the Charlotte Observer, state officials are investigating a fatal workplace accident that claimed the life of a 22-year-old man at a loading dock.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, emergency responders were dispatched to a loading dock near 7308 East Independence Boulevard. The location is part of a commercial shopping center that houses multiple businesses.

Authorities identified the victim as Idrisu Issaka, 22. Police said he suffered critical injuries after being crushed by a truck at the loading dock. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.

The North Carolina Department of Labor has opened an investigation into the incident. A department spokesperson stated that, because the investigation remains active, no additional details are being released at this time.

Officials have not provided further information about the circumstances leading up to the fatal workplace accident as the investigation continues.
