Driver Cited After Fatal Tractor-Trailer Crash in Union County
July 3, 2026Union County, North Carolina, July 2, 2026 — According to WBTV, a woman was killed after a tractor-trailer left the roadway and struck her vehicle at an intersection, leading to charges against the truck driver.
According to the Monroe Police Department, the collision occurred at the intersection of Pageland Highway and White Store Road.
Investigators determined that 64-year-old Charles Allen Davis, of Pennsylvania, was operating the tractor-trailer when he reportedly fell asleep behind the wheel. Police say the truck traveled off the right side of the roadway before entering the intersection, where it collided with a Toyota Camry.

The woman driving the Camry suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Authorities have not released her identity.
Following the investigation, Davis was cited on charges of misdemeanor death by vehicle and failure to maintain lane control.
The crash remains under investigation as officials continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
