Friday Thought of The Day

August 11 , 2017

Your Friday Thought For The Day:

Did you know that when a hearing is requested in a Workers’ Compensation case, the NC Industrial Commission (http://www.ic.nc.gov/claimants.html)  automatically orders the parties to mediate first? Mediation is an informal technique to see if the case can be settled before trial. The exceptions to the mediation requirement are:

1. Workers who are not represented by counsel;

2. Expedited medical motions and administrative appeals, and

3. Claims against the state brought by prison inmates.
